1.8 Million Viewers Watch Philadelphia Beat Pittsburgh in Overtime on TSN and RDS

TORONTO, April 12, 2012 /CNW/ - The 2012 STANLEY CUP® PLAYOFFS got off to a roaring start on TSN and RDS last night, as overnight data from BBM Canada confirms that a combined average audience of 1.8 million viewers (1.5 million on TSN and 334,000 on RDS) watched the Philadelphia Flyers come from behind and defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins in overtime.
Audience levels for the opening game of the NHL post-season peaked at 2.9 million on TSN and RDS in the final seconds of the third period with the game tied 3-3. Overall, nearly 7 million unique viewers watched some or all of last night's match-up on TSN and RDS.
TSN's average audience of 1.5 million viewers is the highest audience ever for a First Round NHL playoff game involving two U.S. teams on the network.
The Penguins-Flyers series resumes tomorrow (Friday, April 13) with Game 2: Philadelphia @ Pittsburgh at 7:30 p.m. ET on TSN and RDS.
Playoff action continues tonight on TSN with Game 1: San Jose @ St. Louis at 7:30 p.m. ET immediately followed by Game 1: Chicago @ Phoenix at 10 p.m. ET.
RDS also features an NHL Playoffs double-header tonight with Game 1: Ottawa @ New York Rangers at 7 p.m. ET followed by Game 1: Chicago @ Phoenix at 10 p.m. ET. RDS2 has Game 1: Washington @ Boston at 7:30 p.m. ET while RDS INFO has Game 1: San Jose @ St. Louis at 7:30 p.m. ET.
