20,000 customers still remain without power
TORONTO, July 9, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited emergency crews continue with power restoration efforts. As of 8 a.m., approximately 20,000 customers still remain without power in the areas bounded by Dundas Street South to Valermo Drive; The West Mall East to Stephen Drive, and Ormskirk Avenue south to The Queensway; South Kingsway East to Windermere Avenue.
The main issue relates to a lack of supply from a Hydro One station in Toronto due to flooding. Power outages are also affecting TTC service along Bloor between Jane and Kipling and we are working with Hydro One to address this issue. Consult the TTC for other transportation service interruptions.
Also, as restoration efforts continue, customers are urged to conserve electricity by turning off non-essential appliances or lights, and consider powering down heavy equipment, such as air conditioners in order to reduce the strain on the electricity system.
Customers who do not live in the west end and are without power should call our Lights Out line at 416-542-8000 to report their outage.
