VANCOUVER, May 21 /CNW/ - The Company has now completed a review of the 2009 field exploration results at its Nox Fort Project, near Salmo, B.C.
The Reduced Intrusion Related Gold Deposit (RIRGD) Model for the Bunker Hill Mine and granitic intrusion area as well as various other styles of mineralization found across the 8,765 hectare property have been systematically explored during the 2008 and 2009 programs. Favourable results for reconnaissance and detailed surveys of stream sediment silt, soil grids, till sampling, ground magnetometer surveying, prospecting and geological mapping led to core drilling in the Fall of 2009. The RIRGD target was the north-south trending west contact area of the Bunker Hill intrusive where several gold-bismuth-tellurium bearing quartz veins had been located.
In an area about 600 meters by 500 meters at the former Bunker Hill Mine RIRGD target, the first ever surface diamond drill program of 2,717 meters produced 1,200 core samples from 10 holes. These NQ-sized drill holes partially tested Soil Gas Hydrocarbon (SGH) survey priority gold anomalies, conventional soil gold + bismuth + tellurium anomalies, surface exposure of granite hosted Au + Bi + Te quartz veinlet swarms, RIRGD style quartz veins with historic underground mine workings and the contact Lefevre skarn area. The drilling provided limited success for the RIRGD model as only two intercepts contained grades of gold in the Bunker Hill mine area.
The regional and detailed program in 2009 successfully expanded the gold and pathfinder element RIRGD potential of the property into granitic areas of upper Limpid Creek and the Wallack Creek drainage intrusive. In particular, at the Clease prospect and the Blue Star occurrence, rock sampling gave anomalous gold grades (Nov. 19, 2009, JAX No. 09-11). Bruce Ballantyne, Project Manager, stated "Important new results in 2009 as well as those of 2008 have suggested that granitic bodies may host other RIRGD occurrences and that other gold prospects on the property deserve attention as well".
Jaxon Minerals has completed the necessary exploration expenses to maintain the option on the property and is about to file assessment work to maintain the mineral claims. Jaxon will continue to assess the mineral potential of the Nox Fort property while investigating other exploration opportunities.
All SGH soil samples were shipped to Activation Laboratories Ltd., Ancaster, Ont., while ACME Laboratories (Vancouver) Ltd. prepared and analyzed silt, rock and sawn drill core samples (see November 19, 2009, JAX No.09-11 for complete details) by 53-element ICP-MS (Acme 1F procedure). Drill core is stored at the Company's storage near Salmo, B.C.
J. David Williams, P. Eng., Senior Project Geologist and qualified person as defined by NI 43 -101 supervised the drill program and is preparing all technical information in the assessment report.
