2010 Gemini Awards Presented in Documentary, Lifestyle, News, and Sports

TORONTO, Nov. 2 /CNW/ - The year's best in Documentary, Lifestyle, News, and Sports programming were celebrated tonight at the first of two Gemini Awards Industry Galas. Hosted by actor Ennis Esmer (The Listener, Wipeout Canada), a total of 50 awards were presented as well as the Canada Award, the Gemini Humanitarian Award, and the inaugural Technical Achievement in Digital Media Special Award. The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television also paid tribute to 2010 MasterWorks Television Honouree The NewMusic.

Winners in Drama, Children's and Youth, Comedy, and Variety categories will be announced on Wednesday, November 3rd. The 25th Annual Gemini Awards will conclude with the Broadcast Gala on Saturday, November 13th at the Winter Garden Theatre in Toronto. Hosted by Glee's Cory Monteith, the event will be broadcast on Global and Showcase at 8pm.
