2010 RTNDA Canada Lifetime Achievement Award Winners
TORONTO, Feb. 23 /CNW/ - RTNDA Canada - The Association of Electronic Journalists is pleased to announce that Tom Mark and Mike Woodworth will be honoured with 2010 RTNDA Lifetime Achievement Awards in the British Columbia Region. The awards will be presented at the RTNDA BC Regional Awards Banquet in Vancouver on June 5, 2010.
Tom Mark has applied his skills to broadcast journalism for 38 years. He has been a news director for more than 20 years and was one of the architects of the all news radio station in Vancouver, News1130 (CKWX). Tom has always been committed to putting the best possible product on the air. His 5 a.m., 30-minute news package is an excellent illustration of this principle and explains why his program is consistently ranked number-one in the Vancouver market. Tom has also provided dedicated service to RTNDA Canada. He served as both a regional director and as Vice-President of Radio. He has also been the recipient of several awards for his on-air work and received the RTNDA Distinguished Service Award in 2003.
Mike Woodworth retired from CKPG-TV and its sister radio stations in July of 2008. He spent 38 years in the media including 26 years in the CKPG newsroom, almost all of it as News Director. Mike's career began in 1972 at the age of 15 in Campbellton, New Brunswick. By the time he was 20 he had worked his way up to the morning news anchor position. Mike moved to CFBC in his hometown of Saint John, N.B. where he continued to read the morning news and eventually took on the role of News Director. He made the move to CKPG in 1982 and as News Director fought vehemently to protect the rights of journalists.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was created in 2002 to recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service and continued excellence during the course of their career in broadcast journalism.
