2011 Canadian Business Hall of Fame Inductees Announced
- Canadian business leaders recognized for outstanding achievement and merit;
Gala Dinner Induction Ceremony set for May 3, 2011 -
TORONTO, Nov. 18 /CNW/ - In preparation for the Gala Dinner Induction Ceremony on May 3, 2011, The Canadian Business Hall of Fame today announced its 33rd Class of Inductees:
- Aldo Bensadoun Founder and CEO, Aldo Group Inc.
- Guy Laliberté O.C., C.Q. Founder, Cirque du Soleil
- Seymour Schulich, C.M. President, Nevada Capital Corporation Ltd.
- W. Galen Weston O.C., O.ONT. Chairman and President, George Weston Limited
These four prominent business leaders are being recognized for their business excellence and honoured for their outstanding professional achievements and enduring contributions to Canadian society.
"These inductees and the companions of the past represent and showcase the power of knowledge, entrepreneurship and drive to succeed," said Mr. O'Neill, Chairman of the Board, Bell Canada and Chancellor, Order of the Business Hall of Fame. "The Inductees have been chosen for the significant contributions they have made to Canada's economy, its citizens and the examples they have set for others."
"This is the highest honour in Canadian business and all of the 2011 inductees are deserving recipients," said Ross Maund, President, Junior Achievement of Canada Foundation. "As Companions, these individuals become mentors and role models for Junior Achievement youth and Canada's future business leaders."
The Canadian Business Hall of Fame was established by Junior Achievement of Canada in 1979. Companions are nominated by their peers and are chosen by an independent selection committee representing Canada's foremost business, academic and media institutions.
The new members will each be formally honoured as Order of the Business Hall of Fame Companions at the 2011 Gala Dinner Induction Ceremony in Toronto on May 3,, 2011 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The annual Canadian Business Hall of Fame Gala Dinner is the national fundraising event in support of Junior Achievement of Canada. Proceeds from this gala ensure that Junior Achievement remains a recognized leader in the delivery of business education programs for young people in Canada. Annually, over 230,000 students experience Junior Achievement programs, free of charge, thanks to the generous contributions of businesses and individuals.
