2011 Proves Positive for UBM Live's Portfolio of Indian Pharma Events
AMSTERDAM, March 22, 2012 /CNW/ - Leading events organiser UBM Live, a division of UBM Plc (LSE: UBM), today announced that its India Pharma portfolio of events had a strong year in 2011. There was a positive growth in attendance figures over last year's Pharma events in Mumbai. Hosted from 30th November to 2nd December, 2011 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, the line-up featured CPhI India for pharmaceutical ingredients, P-MEC India for pharmaceutical equipment, machinery and technology, ICSE India for contract services, clinical trials, and CROs and the BioPh trail for the biopharma market. Over three days, the events hosted 825 exhibitors from 21 different countries with an attendance of 27,437 people from 96 countries across the globe.
CPhI India and co-located events had top level exhibitor attendance from key industry companies such as BASF India, Lupin, Piramal Healthcare, Merck, SGS Life Science, and Aurobindo Pharma in 2011. The events were run in a traditional exhibition format with a complementary programme of networking and educational events run daily. New features included an exhibition tent in the parking area that acted as an extension of the venue and hosted over 100 new exhibitors. Returning features included the second year of the Conference Sessions which had strong attendance and covered hot industry topics such as Global Clinical Trials; Global Biosimilars Regulations; Healthcare and OTC Drugs; Developing Difficult Generics; Export Potential; and Competitive API Strategies.
The Indian pharma market offers a unique business environment due to various factors including low cost of R&D and production, cutting edge technologies, and a well-educated and innovative work force. As the Indian pharma market grows, a focus is being placed on expansion through strategic investments and partnerships globally. Echoing this focus, CPhI India and co-located events were inaugurated by Martin O'Malley, Governor of Maryland, who came to Mumbai with a full delegation and plans to discuss how the Indian Government and Maryland can partner to support the pharma industry in Maryland.
"Our events have grown with this market organically. Especially over the past five years, we have seen India become the fourth largest pharma market globally and it is exciting to see the progress," noted Greg Kerwin, UBM Pharma Portfolio Director. He continued, "We are pleased to see that our customer base continues to grow and has positive feedback about the impact that the India pharma events have on their business. We work very hard to ensure that the events facilitate maximum exposure across the various sectors of the Indian Pharma market."
New exhibitor, Technoflex, confirmed that they saw immediate results from the event. Sylvie Ponlot, Communication Manager for the company commented, "This was our first CPhI India in Mumbai. We made contact with many new prospective clients and several customers. We strongly believe that new projects will result from our attendance. This was a really fruitful show for Technoflex and we will definitely be in Mumbai next year."
CPhI India, ICSE and P-MEC India will return to the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai from 21-23 November 2012. To learn more about CPhI India, please visit: http://www.cphi-india.com/home
