Mott's Clamato unveils eleven new Caesar recipes to celebrate our Canadian provinces and territories for Canada Day
TORONTO, June 21, 2012 /CNW/ - In the lead-up to Canada Day, Mott's Clamato is proud to present the third annual Coast-to-Coast Caesar Toast. Eleven new Caesars have been created - one in honour of each of our provinces, and one for our territories - to commemorate the diversity of our great country from coast-to-coast. The Caesar is a unique - and uniquely Canadian - cocktail. And each Canadian province or territory has its own flavour.
Mott's Clamato Caesar Mixing Officer Clint Pattemore has created a collection of Caesar recipes that uniquely reflects the cultures and traditions of each region.
To Canadians around the world raising a Caesar this Canada Day, we say:
Cheers, Eh!

Alberta Caesar
Alberta Premium whisky and - of course - the Caesar. Canada's cocktail was first mixed in Calgary in 1969 - so while the Classic Caesar would have done just fine for this province, the Alberta of today is a more sophisticated place than it was when Walter Chell was behind the bar at the Calgary Inn. Some things just keep getting better with age.

About the Caesar
A Canadian creation, the Caesar was invented in 1969 to celebrate the opening of Marco's Italian Restaurant at the Calgary Inn (now Westin Calgary). Resident mixologist and food and beverage manager Walter Chell was commissioned to develop the new cocktail. Inspired by the flavours of Spaghetti Vongole, Walter combined sweet (tomato juice), salty (clam nectar), sour (lime), spicy (Worcestershire sauce) and bitter (celery salt) in his new concoction. After naming his drink for the Roman Emperor, legend has it that Chell served one to an Englishman who exclaimed: "that's a good bloody Caesar!"
The Duffy Mott Company introduced Mott's Clamato to Canada in 1969, and ever since, Mott's Clamato has been the essential ingredient in any Caesar - found on store shelves and in bars and restaurants across the country. The Caesar is a signature drink at many fine Canadian establishments, helping make it the most popular cocktail in Canada. More than 350 million Caesars are made with Mott's Clamato every year.
