2012 Toronto International Women's Day Rally and March Theme "Reclaim Our City, Together We Are Stronger"
TORONTO, March 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Thousands of women will take part Saturday, March 3 in Toronto's annual International Women's Day rally and march, one of Toronto's most diverse events.
Women of all ages will be marching to demand an end to cuts to services from all levels of government and an end to violence and harassment faced by women.
The rally at OISE will feature a live speech via Skype from an Egyptian women activist who participated in Tahrir Square, speaking on the Arab Spring and women's rights.
Speakers at OISE will include front-line staff from the City of Toronto and the Toronto Public Library focusing on the impact of City of Toronto cuts on women workers. Other speakers will address provincial cuts and protest the cost-cutting initiatives proposed in the recent report by bank economist Don Drummond.
