We are looking for original, striking images that illustrate the complex financial lives of people living in poverty and how financial inclusion makes a difference. Photos may represent a range of products, institutions, and methodologies, and may touch on a broad range of social, economic, developmental, and technological issues. We encourage entries from all regions, in both rural and urban settings. By sharing your images that demonstrate the variety of ways poor households manage household finances, you'll help us tell a story of innovation and ingenuity in the use of financial services to improve lives.
Previous rounds of the contest have produced stunning and creative images that have been shared with organizations working in financial inclusion and global media. Last year's contest was the most competitive to date, with 2,500 entries from 80 countries. The winning photo - "Smoke of Charcoal," submitted by Yavuz Sariyildiz of Turkey, a former banker - received excellent exposure globally: it was displayed by PR Newswire in New York City's Times Square, featured in two Turkish newspapers, and included in a gallery on BBC Vietnam's website.
Many prizes will be issued in 2013, including a grand, second, and third prize. Be sure to vote for your favorite photos online to help determine the People's Choice winner.
