ST-HYACINTHE, QC, April 12, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Olymel L.P. executive wishes to express its great satisfaction at being selected Large Business of the Year at the 33rd Mercuriades competition (2013) yesterday in Montreal before more than 700 representatives of the Quebec business community. The event was held under the auspices of Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ). Not only was Olymel selected by the jury to join the Mercuriades Club of Excellence as Large Business of the Year; the company also garnered a Mercure Award in the Proactive Workforce Management\Large Business category for its STAR program, an initiative to recognize the commitment of its human resources.
"These honours reflect on all our employees, and I would like to express the Olymel executive's gratitude to each and every one. In less than 25 years, our company has earned a leadership position in the food processing sector in Canada. With a solid base in Quebec, and now also well established in four other provinces and very active in export markets, Olymel is able to draw on the quality of its supply and products, as well as research and innovation, to better meet the needs of its customers and consumers. Being recognized as Large Business of the Year by our peers in Quebec is a source of great pride, and encourages us to continue to do better," notes Olymel CEO Réjean Nadeau.
In addition to being crowned Large Business of the Year by the Mercuriades jury, Olymel also garnered a Mercure Award in the Proactive Workforce Management/Large Business category for its STAR Program, which recognizes the commitment of its human resources. The original program, designed to attract and retain employees and build loyalty, includes several local and corporate initiatives, such as one recognizing years of service.
"A company with nearly 10,000 employees spread out over many facilities and a large territory must do everything possible to retain and develop its human capital. At Olymel, the core mission of the Human Resources department, and a corporate value that is rooted in our culture, is prioritizing the development and rewarding of our employees' skills. Awards we have received over the years testify to our commitment to this mission," Mr. Nadeau concluded.
In 2011, Olymel was awarded the Mercure in the Enterprise-School Partnership Vocational and Technical Training/Large Business category in the prestigious Mercuriades competition for its Everest program, which provides custom training for plant managers, supervisors, production managers and human resources managers.
