- Three outstanding business leaders to be recognized on May 15, 2014 -
TORONTO, Nov. 22, 2013 /CNW/ - The Canadian Business Hall of Fame announced its 36th Class of Companion Inductees:
Peter M. Brown, Founder & Honorary Chairman, Canaccord Genuity
Emanuele (Lino) Saputo, Chairman of the Board, Saputo Inc.
Donald J. Smith, Founder, Former President & CEO, EllisDon (posthumously)
Each year, the Canadian Business Hall of Fame recognizes and celebrates the lifetime accomplishments of Canada's business leaders. These three business leaders are being recognized for their business excellence, outstanding professional achievements and enduring contributions to Canadian society.
"It is my great pleasure to announce these exceptional Canadians as Inductees for their personal accomplishments and the legacy they have created for future generations," said Mr. L.R. Wilson, Chancellor of the Order of the Business Hall of Fame. "On May 15, we will honour these three outstanding individuals for the significant contributions they have made to Canadian business and society."
The Order of the Business Hall of Fame was established by Junior Achievement of Canada in 1979. Companions are nominated by their peers and are chosen by an independent selection committee representing Canada's foremost business, academic and media institutions. As national partner of the Canadian Business Hall of Fame, Knightsbridge Human Capital Solutions is responsible for managing the overall search by identifying and shortlisting potential nominees according to key criteria.
"Our Inductees are leading examples of achievement in business and in life," said Keith Publicover, President and CEO, Junior Achievement of Canada. "By honouring these individuals, we are helping students develop their financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship skills in order to become the next generation of leaders."
This year's Class of Companions will formally be inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame at the 2014 Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony on May 15 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Proceeds from this gala help Junior Achievement reach the growing demand of financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship programs for Canadian students, which are essential to their future success.
