2015/2016 Canadian Television Report Card: Five New CTV Series Rank in Canada's Top 10 Most-Watched Programs

TORONTO, June 3, 2016 /CNW/ - With the core television season now at a close, CTV revealed today the list of the Top 20 most-watched television programs of the 2015-16 broadcast year, as well as the Top 10 new programs of the season. Numeris data confirms another incredible year for CTV, which landed five brand-new series in the Top 10 list of Canada's most-watched TV programs. Overall, CTV lays claim to five of the Top 5 new programs in total viewers and all key demos, and seven of the Top 10.
CTV ends the season as the most-watched television network in primetime for an unprecedented 15 years in a row, making it the most stable television network in North America. With more Top 10 and Top 20 programs than all other networks combined, CTV leads its next closest competitor by 64% among the key A25-54 demo, and even greater among A18-34 (+75%) and A18-49 (+77%).
Ranking in the Top 10 most-watched programs of the year among total viewers were five freshmen CTV series: THE X-FILES (#2); CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS (#6), QUANTICO (#8), LUCIFER (#9), and CODE BLACK (#10).
The new hit series join CTV's unstoppable stable of sophomore and season-after-season favourites. With total viewers, A25-54, and A18-49, CTV delivers the #1 series and #1 comedy (THE BIG BANG THEORY), as well as the #1 drama and #1 new series (THE X-FILES). CTV's original culinary competition series MASTERCHEF CANADA is the #1 Canadian program among total viewers, while CTV's SAVING HOPE is Canada's most-watched original drama among the key adult demos, and CTV EVENING NEWS is a Top 20 series (#17) among total viewers.

- For the second year in a row, CTV delivered six new television series in the Top 20 among total viewers, A18-34, and A18-49.
- CTV delivered five of the Top 5 new programs overall with A18-49 and A25-54, and the six of the Top 6 new programs for A18-34 and total viewers.
- New shows THE X-FILES, QUANTICO, LUCIFER, and BLINDSPOT all improved their timeslots among A25-54.
