MONTREAL, Aug. 22, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Cancer Research Society is pleased to announce that its 21st Annual Golf Classic, held yesterday, raised a net amount of $202,000. "Thanks to the generosity of participants, donors, and corporate partners, this amount will be entirely devoted to funding research into the leading cause of death among Canadians," said the Society's President and CEO, Andy Chabot. "On the eve of our 70th anniversary, when an estimated two in five Canadians will develop cancer during their lifetime and one in four will die from the disease, cancer research remains more than ever our top priority."
On, August 21st, a record number of participants from the business community gathered at the Elm Ridge Golf Club on Ile Bizard in support of the cause. For the fifth consecutive year, Mr. François Castonguay, President and CEO of Uniprix Group, accepted the honorary chairmanship of the event, while Mr. Alain Champagne, President of McKesson Canada, acted as Honorary Patron of the tournament.
