WINNIPEG

/CNW/ - Last night's final SUPER 7 Jackpot - almost
$24 million
- was won by a single ticket purchased in Saskatchewan!
The SUPER 7 lottery game is now retired, and the final draw took place last night. Interest across
Canada
was very high, because all of the prize money was guaranteed to be won. Had there been no winner in the 7/7 category, the Jackpot would have rolled down to the next prize level, 6/7 plus the Bonus. If there were no winners in that category, the prize money would have further rolled down to be shared amongst the 6/7 category.
That wasn't necessary however, because some lucky ticket holder in Saskatchewan purchased a ticket with all seven of the main numbers drawn - 5, 8, 10, 13, 22, 36 and 47.
"The ticket was purchased somewhere in Saskatchewan - that's all we know at this point," said WCLC spokesperson
Andrea Marantz
. "The winner, or winners, have an entire year in which to claim their prize - but I'm hoping we hear from them much sooner than that!
"The soonest opportunity for the lucky winners to be in touch with WCLC is
7:30 a.m.
Monday morning. The winner should call 1-800-665-3313 to receive confirmation that they hold the winning ticket, and instructions on how to claim the prize.
High sales on the draw meant that the Jackpot - originally estimated at
$21 million
, actually netted out at an amazing
$23,963,940
. This will be a new record lottery win for Saskatchewan - although lottery records have been falling like dominos recently in the province. The current record is
$17.3 million
won on a ticket purchased in Outlook by an oilfield worker on the
August 5th
LOTTO 6/49 draw. And a few months earlier, a resident of Moose Jaw won
$17 million
on the
March 20th
SUPER 7 draw.
Tickets for LOTTO MAX, Canada's newest lottery game, went on sale this morning.
In Saskatchewan, proceeds from lottery products help to fund more than 12,000 volunteer sport, culture, recreation and community groups.
