MONTREAL, Oct. 19, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The organizers of the second DNA Experience urban ball are proud to announce that $250,000 has been raised in aid of the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM). The now-annual event was conceived by a group of committed volunteers calling themselves the DNA Committee - the Future of the Fondation du CHUM. The ball attracted some 500 young professionals to the majestic St. James Theatre for an evening featuring a late-1940s theme and, especially, to support a good cause: the health and well-being of CHUM patients.
A generous ambassador
Singer IMA, the official ambassador for the event, was present and gave a brilliant performance for the attendees. "I'm happy to lend my voice to that of the DNA Committee in underlining the importance of health and especially the difference that every gesture can make to the lives of hospital patients. I'm very touched by the sense of solidarity and energy surrounding this important project for our society - the CHUM. That's why I wanted to get involved in the work of the Fondation," she said.
A generation mobilized behind the CHUM
The two co-chairs of the DNA Committee, Colin Danby and Sylvie Rabbat, were delighted with the success of the evening. "We're really happy to see that young people of our generation have answered the call and do understand the importance of supporting the Fondation du CHUM. This second urban ball really confirms the commitment of our peers and encourages us to aim higher! It proves that generosity is something that exists in everyone's genes."
"We would like to thank the members of the DNA Committee who worked so hard to make the evening a success. Big things are happening at the CHUM and we are blessed to be able to count on the efforts of a network of young people who are clearly committed to giving our patients the best in health care," stated Ékram Antoine Rabbat, President and CEO, and Anne-Marie Côté, Director, Event Manager of the Fondation du CHUM.
The proceeds from DNA Experience will help in acquiring advanced equipment, promoting innovative research projects, contributing to the excellence of teaching, and supporting initiatives that promote better health and the patient experience at the CHUM.
The DNA Committee wishes to thank the following partners for their support: Brault & Martineau, Groupe Antonopoulos (BEVO Bar + Pizzeria, Gaspar, Kyo and Méchant Bœuf), Newad, La Presse+, Métro, Bio-K+, SNC-Lavalin, Chic Bibi, Cohn & Wolfe and Bell.
