The CHU Sainte-Justine shatters the provincial record
MONTREAL, Oct. 26, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Nearly 400 people gathered together for a heartfelt celebration today at the CHU Sainte-Justine, where the extraordinary results of the Healing More Better campaign were officially unveiled: $255M to heal more mothers and children, and heal them better. This represents an unprecedented mobilization in support of Sainte-Justine and a philanthropic record for a single health care institution in Quebec. An unforgettable evening for the CHU Sainte-Justine, its Foundation and donors, the event was an exceptional occasion to thank the entire community for the incredible successes that have been achieved at Sainte-Justine over the past five years.
255 million thank yous!
During the evening, the Foundation warmly thanked all the teams at the CHU Sainte-Justine, as well as donors, volunteers, and all those who contributed in exemplary fashion to this major fundraising campaign to give Sainte-Justine the means to achieve its ambition of transforming the lives of Quebec mothers and children.
For Mr. Pierre Boivin, Co-Chair of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation's Healing More Better campaign, it is important to remember that the main goal was to give Quebec mothers and children a healthy future, among the best in the world. "To strive for treatment excellence is to go beyond healing, so that there are as few after-effects as possible," he stated. "We had an ambitious public goal of $150 million, and it is thanks to the community's commitment that we were able to far surpass that goal. In addition to the unwavering motivation of our cabinet, the CHU Sainte-Justine and its teams have built strong relationships of trust with all our partners, donors and volunteers, by aligning their philanthropic spirit with the needs of the institution. Every time we solicited a donation, we were met with a favourable response that gave us the impetus to keep moving forward. It gives us immense pride, and it is also a great honour, to know that we can count on the support of such a strong and committed community. I want to express my deepest gratitude to them," he added.
Dr. Fabrice Brunet, CEO of the CHU Sainte-Justine, reiterated the importance of philanthropy and the Foundation in the growth of innovation at Sainte-Justine, which allows us to make further strides in providing one of the best levels of health care in the world. "Donations are powerful leverage; they act as a catalyst. With these donations, the CHU Sainte-Justine, a centre of interdisciplinarity and collaboration, benefits from increasing influence. More than ever, our institution is the place where one can find the largest concentration of experts, technology, patients and students in Quebec, forming the critical mass needed to bring about medical revolutions. The Healing More Better campaign has propelled Sainte-Justine to new heights," he stated.
"The impact of this impressive mobilization reflects the strength of the community's commitment to Sainte-Justine, thanks to which we can continually achieve extraordinary breakthroughs," said Mr. Michael M Fortier, President of the Board of Directors of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. "Sainte-Justine is a jewel that all of Quebec can be very proud of. Because of the Healing More Better campaign, it is now more than ever an internationally recognized institution, a leader in pediatric health in North America. Today, thanks to the generosity and commitment of our donors, teams and partners, the CHU Sainte-Justine is a living place, where innovation and humanization of care exist in perfect harmony so that every child can look forward to the best possible future," he added.
"This year, on the occasion of the Foundation's 30th anniversary and the CHU Sainte-Justine's 110th, we can all be proud of how far we have come: proud to have launched, over the past five years, countless initiatives in care, research and teaching, many of which are Canadian firsts," said Ms. Maud Cohen, President and CEO of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation. "Together, we are an exceptional family whose members put their heart into making the CHU Sainte-Justine the success it is today, and that it will be in the future," she added.
In 2012, the goal of the Healing More Better campaign was simple: to heal more children, and heal them better. This ambitious community project was launched five years ago to give Quebec families the excellent care they deserve. After having acquired the best infrastructure for super-specialized care and a new state-of-the-art Research Centre, the time was right for Sainte-Justine to seize the opportunity to push the boundaries of its research innovation even further, to better bring together the best doctors and researchers in support of each child and to offer personalized, tailor-made treatment. At the CHU Sainte-Justine, doing MORE and doing BETTER goes beyond healing: it is to strive for treatment excellence that leaves the fewest possible after-effects and gives children a healthy future, among the best in the world.
