EDMONTON, Nov. 10, 2016 /CNW/ - As Remembrance Day approaches, we tend to remember the soldiers who have taken part in such circumstances. We lean towards the lives that are lost and remember the struggle that they have endured. But we seem to forget that in such events, we don't remember the children who have lost their parents, siblings, shelter, elders and no food or water.
IDRF (International Development and Relief Foundation) would like to invite you for a fundraiser this Saturday November 12, 2016 at Academy Banquet Hall 14525 127 Street Edmonton, Alberta at 5pm. Our special guest speaker will be Shaykh Abdalla Idris Ali, who will shed light on these unfortunate children. He is a well-known American Muslim public speaker and expert in Islamic education in North America.
When disaster and conflict strikes countries, it is often the children, some of the most vulnerable members of society that are hit the hardest.
In light of our efforts and to provide health and hope to at risk people, join us for our 2nd Annual IDRF Edmonton Gala as we raise funds and awareness for the vulnerable Syrian, Gaza and Pakistani children. This will be a lively and engaging event.
For almost 30 years IDRF has helped people who face suffering due to wars and natural disasters, or due to extreme poverty. As a registered Canadian charity, we help families survive wreckage of conflicts or natural disasters by providing relief and rehabilitation aid. We also assist poor people through development projects of clean water, education, health care and livelihood development.
We have been recently helping out with Fort McMurray, Syrian refugees and bringing them here to Canada and also with the people of Haiti. We have been taking donations through our website www.idrf.com/alrashid.
But for more information about our event or volunteering please call 780-707-1474 or 780-708-2725. Tickets are available at Al Rashid Masjid, Elsafadi Bros. store and Monna's Pizza, and www.eventbrite.ca.
Bring your friends and family out on November 12th and share the hashtag #Rememberkids on your networks.
