Waterloo, Ontario - October 13, 2012
WATERLOO, ON, Oct. 11, 2012 /CNW/ - Scholars of 8 faiths and philosophies and over 800 delegates including members from academia, governments and faith organizations are gathering at the University of Waterloo for Canada's Largest Multi-Faith event - the 32nd World Religions Conference (WRC), taking place on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 10 am to 5 pm.
Buoyed by the contributions of so many faith communities that thrive in Canada, WRC has enriched Canadian society by promoting peace, understanding, and tolerance for over 3 decades. Each year the conference grows in popularity and in scope.
This year's conference is particularly special as it commemorates the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and Her Majesty's long-standing belief in the ideas of equality, justice and freedom for all faiths and philosophies. The theme chosen for this year's conference, "Idea of an Ideal Government", further compliments her vision.
Distinguished scholars representing Aboriginal spirituality, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism and Humanism will present their views on the issue. Numerous faith Groups will setup displays and participate in religious and cultural hymn presentations.
The event will be moderated by TV host Indira Naidoo-Harris. Event will be streamed live at http://www.worldreligionsconference.org

The conference will explore the impact of faith on politics and government, addressing key questions such as: Does religion provide any framework for an ideal government? To what extent should state and religion be separate? Should governments provide laws to protect the sanctity of religious and sacred figures? How has the relationship of religion with politics changed after the recent significant world events? Does this relationship foster ideal governments in Canada and around the world?
