MONTREAL, Oct. 25 /CNW Telbec/ - The International Centre for the Prevention of Crime (ICPC), l'Observatoire national de la délinquance et des réponses pénales (INHESJ-ONDRP) and l'Observatoire national de la délinquance dans les transports (ONDT) in France are organizing the 3rd International Conference on Crime Observatories on October 27, 28, 29 in Montreal, Canada. This conference builds on the first two conferences that took place in Paris in France in 2007 and in Santiago in Chile in 2009
Security has become one of society's main focuses. Public officials are solicited on all levels by constituents who demand quick and practical solutions that guarantee public safety on a daily basis.
Subsequently, in the past few years, there has been development of crime, violence and delinquency observatories that, with the help of the latest technology, facilitate the collection of data so as to better define phenomena linked to insecurity.
How has the information collected been concretely used by authorities to guarantee safety? Specialists, practitioners, and municipal and national government officials from more than 15 countries are expected at this conference in order to discuss and exchange on practical developments that are improving safety in urban settings in different parts of the world.

The inauguration will be held at Omni Hotel Mont‐Royal on October 27th at 2:30 pm in the presence of Alain Bauer, Chairman of the Board of Director s of the Conseil d'orientation de l'Observatoire national de la délinquance et des réponses pénales (ONDRP), France, Claude Trudel, Member of Ville de Montréal's Comité exécutif, in charge of Public safety and security, Danielle St-Amant, Parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Public Security and Deputy of Trois-Rivières, Marc Parent, Director, Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Canada.
