$4 million settlement of Sheila Morrison Schools class action

TORONTO, Feb. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - On February 7, 2013, the parties entered into a $4 million settlement of the class action relating to alleged abuses at the Sheila Morrison School.

The Sheila Morrison School was a private school located in Utopia, near Barrie, Ontario. The school was primarily directed at students with learning disabilities, behavioural issues or special needs. The school closed in 2009.

The settlement is subject to court approval and there will be a hearing on March 12, 2013 to consider such approval.

The action was settled to the satisfaction of all parties and is, in the view of the parties, fair, reasonable and in the best interests of the class members.
