MONTREAL, May 20, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - On May 21, La Ronde, Quebec's leading destination for thrills and family entertainment, is bringing 4 X the action in 2016. Presenting Canada's first Virtual Reality Coaster, New Revolution, the park is also flipping the iconic Vampire backwards and adding two rides in an all-new section called Avenue Aventure. The park's mascot, Ribambelle and her friends The Zs will also be on hand to greet and delight guests. 2016 promises thrills and chills for the entire family. The season highlights include:
4 X the action
When boarding the hyper-coaster Goliath in 2016, riders will be invited to wear Samsung Gear VR headsets to experience the heart-pumping adrenaline of steep drops, powerful twists and turns as gyros, accelerometers and proximity sensors synchronize all of the action in a remarkably realistic 360-degree virtual reality world. On The New Revolution Virtual Reality Coaster, riders will be transported to a futuristic battle to save planet earth from an alien invasion.
Fans from around the world come every year to experience Vampire, the park's very own exciting bat-inspired inverted roller coaster. This season, the journey will begin with a 32 meter climb to the top of the lift hill. Next, riders will soar beneath the track through five daunting inversions turning at speeds of up to 80 km/h per hour….backwards. Yes Backwards!
Avenue Aventure makes its La Ronde debut in 2016, providing fun and thrills for the entire family. The area will feature two new innovative rides. Phoenix, a flying scooter ride that puts guests in control as they soar against the wind and Gravitor, a fun adventure that lifts guests high above the ground as they turn around.
L'International des Feux Loto-Québec
This 32nd edition of L'International des Feux Loto-Québec, from July 2 to 30, will be filled with magic and a powerful array of lights and sounds. The season will open with Our Heroes, a celebration of Heroes, from videogames to comics. Other themes will include A Musical Ride, The Joy of Life and The Wild West, celebrating the music of Ennio Morricone. The event will conclude with a Tribute to Elton John, featuring mega hits such as Circle of Life, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and the Grammy Award winning Candle in the Wind.
Christmas at La Ronde
Celebrate Christmas in the summer July 21 and 22 when Santa Claus takes a temporary leave from the North Pole to meet and greet kids of all ages. Guests who bring six non-perishable food items will receive a coupon to purchase a one-day admission ticket for a discounted price. All donated food will benefit Moisson Montréal.
