484 Alberta CPA candidates successfully write national CPA exam and embark on a new beginning
EDMONTON, Dec. 9, 2016 /CNW/ - The Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta (CPA Alberta) are tremendously proud of the 484 CPA candidates who have recently reached a career milestone: passing the national CPA Common Final Examination (CFE). Exam results were released on December 9.
The CFE is a comprehensive, rigourous, multi-day examination which all candidates seeking to become CPAs must pass in order to receive their designation. All over Alberta, CPAs are celebrating this momentous achievement.
"I am thrilled to congratulate these 484 individuals for their accomplishments, on behalf of the CPA Alberta staff and board," said Rachel Miller FCPA, FCA, the Chief Executive Officer of CPA Alberta. "By successfully completing the CFE, these individuals have proven they have the knowledge, skills, and judgement necessary to join the CPA profession and help organizations navigate change."
Of these 484 successful individuals, special mention is to six individuals whose exceptional performance on the CFE placed them on the National Honour Roll. One of those honourees, Lindsay Mclean of Deloitte, Calgary, was recognized as the Gold Medalist for the CPA Western School of Business region; her performance on the final examination was judged to be the highest quality in the western provinces. (The full list of National Honourees is included in the Backgrounder accompanying this release.)
In order to qualify for the CPA designation, Alberta students must complete rigorous course work through the CPA Western School of Business, pass the CFE, and fulfill relevant practical experience requirements. Once they have completed all of these steps, they will obtain their CPA designation. Successful completion of the CFE signifies a mastery of the technical skills, professionalism, and business acumen expected of new CPAs.
The CPA designation is Canada's pre-eminent business and accounting credential. CPAs are world-class strategic business experts, helping organizations succeed in every industry and level of business. CPA Alberta is the professional regulatory organization for the CPA profession established under provincial legislation. Its membership includes all of Alberta's over 28,000 CPAs.
