4th Annual Bang & Olufsen Yorkville Run to take place during Toronto International Film Festival
Canada's fastest 5K race to raise funds in support of the city's YWCA women's shelters
TORONTO, Aug. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - On Sunday, September 8, Bang & Olufsen Yorkville - the leading luxury audio video retailer in Toronto - will host the fourth annual B&O Yorkville Run during the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. With support from local runners, businesses, and sponsors, the event will raise funds in support of YWCA Toronto - a trusted multi-service organization that helps women and girls flee violence, secure housing, find jobs, establish their voices, enhance skills and develop confidence.
"Over the last three years, the B&O Yorkville Run has become an important community initiative, uniting local fundraisers, businesses, families, and athletes in support of the YWCA women's shelters of Toronto," says Jordan Korenzvit, owner of Bang & Olufsen Yorkville and co-founder of the B&O Yorkville Run. "Bang & Olufsen Yorkville is honoured to be leading the charge again this year. Based on the registration numbers we've seen so far, and through the generosity of our fantastic sponsors, we are well-positioned to double last year's fundraising results and completely sell-out this year's event."
The B&O Yorkville Run was named Canada's fastest 5K road race for three consecutive years, and has attracted the world's top elites, including Wesley Korir, who placed first in the 2012 Boston Marathon, and the 2009 and 2010 L.A. Marathons.
Much more than your average run, all B&O Yorkville Run participants will receive a complementary luxury race kit that includes:
- Technical t-shirt by local designer, Cory Shemuel;
- K-Way waterproof jacket, courtesy of Mizrahi Developments;
- Protein shaker bottle courtesy of Rebate4u;
- Personalized running bibs;
- 500 mL evian water bottle; and
- Full-sized samples from premium health food companies
The runners who complete the certified 5K course in the fastest time, in both the female and male categories, will receive cash prizes for first, second, and third place. Top fundraisers will be rewarded with prizes, including electronics from Bang & Olufsen Yorkville, gift certificates to local restaurants, a Lexus for a month from Lexus Downtown, ecco Biom running shoes, as well as other high-end products from Yorkville merchants.
Complete with après-run hors d'oeuvres served by white-gloved waiters, courtesy of Yorkville Restaurants, the race will see 1,000 participants run the red carpet during the Toronto International Film Festival. Local businesses and vendors will also be on hand to show their support by offering complementary services and products.
Spearheaded by Bang & Olufsen Yorkville, the race is sponsored by Mizrahi Developments and Lexus Downtown and presented by ECCO, with additional sponsorship and support from Fiera Foods, Yan Gurevich of Harvey Kalles Real Estate, Rebate4u, The Running Room, Whole Foods Market, Equinox Fitness Clubs, Catalyst Health, evian, Swatch, Joso's Restaurant, Over the Rainbow, Cantine Bar & Grill, Carole's Cheesecake, Popchips, Crêpes à GoGo, and Limonana.
The cost to register is $50 per runner/walker for the first 700 registrants, $60 per runner/walker for the next 200 registrants, and $70 per runner/walker for the last 100 registrants. All proceeds will go directly to YWCA Toronto. The event is on track to sell-out early.
