The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education announces dynamic lineup for 10th annual festival with a focus on engaging the curious mind.
TORONTO, May 23, 2018 /CNW/ - The 50+ Festival, presented by Programs for 50+ at The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson University, will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a dynamic lineup of lectures and performances that will explore innovative trends, Canadian pluralism, and citizen science. Running from Friday, June 1, through Sunday, June 3, the annual festival engages older adults interested in personal growth and continued learning.
"For 10 years, the 50+ Festival has helped us examine what it means to age, which is very different from how our parents or their parents experienced aging," says Dr. Marie Bountrogianni, Dean, The Chang School. "Not only is the festival a clear demonstration of lifelong learning in practice, it is also a celebration of opportunities for enrichment well into our golden years."
This year's edition promises to be one of the liveliest in the 10-year history of the festival, with events focused on the rise of artificial intelligence, innovative modern medicine, a community-based movement to end AIDS in Africa, and much more. Attendees will also enjoy a street party in the heart of Ryerson's downtown campus, an exclusive screening of an award-winning short film, and performances of original and powerful one-act plays.
"The festival showcases the curious mind and energy of older adults who view retirement as only one step in a long life of engagement in the world," says Sandra Kerr, Program Director for Programs for 50+ and Community Engagement at The Chang School. "This is a new day and we can redesign retirement into unique channels of involvement and purpose."
The festival will be held on the Ryerson campus. For more festival information, visit fiftyplusfestival.ca.
