Breakfast Club of Canada Opens its 500th Ontario Breakfast Club This School Year
TORONTO, Nov. 4, 2014 /CNW/ - This morning, Breakfast Club of Canada, in partnership with Minute Maid®, celebrated the 500th Ontario breakfast club opening this year. A healthy morning meal is now guaranteed to over 90,000 students in Ontario schools.
The Hon. Liz Sandals, Minister of Education and the Hon. Tracy MacCharles, Minister of Children and Youth Services, joined St. Joseph College School students for a nutritious start to their school day. In collaboration with provincial support to student nutrition programs, Breakfast Club of Canada provides equipment, training, and additional funding to schools.
Breakfast Club of Canada's national network has continued to grow every year since its first program opened in 1994. By providing students with a healthy breakfast in a supportive environment, a breakfast club provides connections between a healthy meal and lifestyle. The Toronto Foundation for Student Success and The Angel Foundation for Learning are the local partners with Breakfast Club of Canada.
Breakfast at school costs as little as $1 day, but provides substantial benefit to students, schools, and communities as a whole. Breakfast Club of Canada is pleased to reach such a milestone and is excited for the continued success of their students.
