5,000 "toutous" admitted to Sainte-Justine
MONTREAL, Nov. 30 /CNW Telbec/ - The Sainte-Justine UHC Foundation will mark the success of their "50 000 adeptes = 5 000 toutous" campaign by giving away the first plush toy this morning in the entrance hall of the hospital. The campaign kicks off an initiative aimed at providing comfort to hospitalized children by matching them with a plush companion.
The campaign, launched on Facebook last summer, was a resounding success and attracted more than 50,000 Facebook fans in less than a month. 5,000 children admitted to the hospital will now receive a kangaroo aptly symbolizing the mother and child mission of Sainte- Justine and playing a supportive role as a source of comfort at what can sometimes be a stressful experience in a child's life.
Dr. Crochetière, President of the Executive committee of the Conseil des médecins, dentistes et pharmaciens, Sainte-Justine UHC, sees clear benefits of this initiative both on children and on members of their families. She says the human approach taken with the children reflects the values of Sainte-Justine. "Providing the child with a plush companion concretely demonstrates that we speak their language, we want to accompany them on their journey, we want to give them comfort and we want to get to know all of their needs," she says.
Anièle Lecoq, President and Executive Director of the Foundation, echoed Dr. Crochetière's sentiments. "The campaign involving thousands of Facebook users took on special significance because it mobilized the community to help Sainte-Justine continue to ensure the well being of both mother and child on every level."
Sponsored through the generosity of Boutiques Clément, The "50 000 adeptes = 5 000 toutous" campaign both mobilized a network of followers to support the Sainte-Justine cause and encouraged hundreds of people to share their hospital experience and their gratitude to the staff.
