AJAC 2016 EcoRun: Toronto – Ottawa
Bringing Fuel Efficient Technologies to Your Community.
The EcoRun is an annual AJAC event that shows off a variety of eco-friendly vehicles, which include pure electrics, plug-in and conventional hybrids, hydrogen fuel cells, diesel-fuelled powertrains and highly-efficient gasoline options. The purpose of the EcoRun is to help inform consumers of these alternative options, as well as providing accurate road testing fuel economy numbers. There's no limit to the size of vehicle showcased, as they range from subcompacts to pickup trucks. These new vehicles are driven on real-world road conditions in order to fully test for fuel efficiency and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
TORONTO, May 12, 2016 /CNW/ - The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) is less than one month away from the start of its 2016 EcoRun, a showcase for environmentally friendly vehicles.
Journalists from across the country will converge on Toronto on June 1 to commence a two-day driving excursion through some picturesque Southern Ontario routes, with stops in Oshawa, Cobourg, Belleville, Kingston and Brockville before arriving at the final destination in Ottawa.
During the drive, they will be able to sample from 28 vehicles that have been entered into the showcase by Canada's auto manufacturers. The vehicles are a mix of pure electrics, hybrids, hydrogen fuel cells, diesels and fuel-efficient internal combustion engines.
The list of cars includes a rare opportunity to drive the Toyota Mirai, a hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, as well the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt, Hyundai Sonata plug-in hybrid, Mercedes S550e plug-in hybrid, Honda Civic and even a Porsche 911 Carrera. The full list of vehicles can be viewed at http://www.ajac.ca/eco-run/
The fifth edition of the EcoRun is made possible thanks to the help of our partners, Natural Resources Canada, the Canadian Fuels Association, Canadian Automobile Association, Michelin, the Smart Drive Challenge, World Scout Environment Program and the Chemical Guys.
