Barriers Will Protect Customers and Employees to Help Minimize Spread of COVID-19
VANCOUVER, March 27, 2020 /CNW/ - 7-Eleven Canada announced today it is currently installing plexiglass sneeze guards at the front sales counter in its 636 Canadian 7-Eleven® stores to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Each store will receive two Canadian-made transparent plastic barriers that will be installed by March 31, 2020.
"Our stores recognize the need to provide Canadians with access to essential products during this time, however we continue to take precautionary measures to keep our employees and customers safe," said 7-Eleven Canada Vice President and General Manager Norman Hower. "We continue to monitor the evolving situation daily to prioritize the health of Canadians alongside Canada Health recommendations."
For easiest customer access, credit card keypads will be located on the customer-facing side of the plexiglass sneeze guards.
Installation of these new checkout barriers is the latest step 7-Eleven has taken in its stores to slow the spread of COVID-19. As previously announced, the company has also enhanced its standards and procedures for hygiene, handwashing, sanitation and food handling, increased the frequency of cleaning high-touch surfaces and placed floor markers in stores to enable customers to practice social distancing.
For those who are unable to or prefer not to leave their homes, 7-Eleven is also partnering with Uber Eats and foodora to offer home delivery to over 11 million Canadians in over 5 million households. Visit 7-eleven.ca/delivery to find out the delivery options available in your area.
