MONTREAL, May 28, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, May 28, 2015, Me Stéphane Grenier and his company 8574251 Canada Inc appeared at the Laval Court House on tobacco contraband charges.
This is further to the laying of charges, on March 19, 2015, with regards to Me Grenier and his company 8574251 Canada Inc., for having attempted to smuggle into Canada 14,505kg of tobacco, and consequently attempting to evade the payment of $1,621,840.31 in duties and taxes and being in possession of unstamped tobacco products.
According to a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) investigation, Me Grenier and his company 8574251 Canada Inc., are at the centre of a tobacco contraband scheme. According to this investigation, they were at the origin of an attempt to import a 14505 kg load of tobacco products via the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor, Ontario. This attempt, which occurred on September 2, 2013, resulted in a seizure by CBSA officer.
