A Decade's Worth of Warmth and Caring: Angels in the Night to Visit Homeless Shelters Across Canada
Hundreds of volunteers will distribute winter kits to those in need
TORONTO, Dec. 11, 2012 /CNW/ - Tonight marks the 10th anniversary of angels spreading their wings across the country. Hundreds of volunteers from Invis-Mortgage Intelligence, one of Canada's leading mortgage brokerage firms, will take to city streets across Canada to donate new winter clothing and supplies to those in need as part of its trademark community program, Angels in the Night.
"As a company, we're proud and inspired by a grass-roots local project that has evolved into a coast-to-coast initiative of caring and community engagement," says Bob Ord, CEO, Invis-Mortgage Intelligence. "Helping those who don't have a place to call their own resonates strongly with our brokers, employees and business partners who are passionate about this cause and work tirelessly to make it a success each year."
To mark the milestone year, Bob joins brokers, employees and business partners in Vancouver to visit six homeless shelters in the city that Angels in the Night originated. Including this year's fundraising efforts, the Invis-Mortgage Intelligence Angels have raised over $1.9 million for homeless shelters in communities across Canada in the last ten years.
Invis-Mortgage Intelligence estimates that funds raised over the past year will translate into the distribution of:
- 3,868 pairs of gloves, hats, scarves
- 3,424 pairs of socks
- 1,486 long sleeve thermal shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies
"Since 2002, Angels in the Night has been focused on making a positive impact in the communities that we live in," said Patrick Mulhern, an Invis broker in Vancouver and long-time supporter and volunteer of Angels in the Night. "As mortgage brokers in the business of helping people find their homes, it seems right to extend some support and help to those who might not have a warm home to go to every night."
"Homelessness is not something that can be solved in one night, but it's heartwarming and encouraging to see members of our community gather together to lend a hand," said Blanch White, Communications Office and Fundraiser at Na-Me-Res in Toronto, an agency that benefits from Angels in the Night year after year. "We are grateful to Angels in the Night for their continued dedication and support to our organization."
