Shane will accelerate Farber's business performance beyond its solid base.
TORONTO, June 9, 2020 /CNW/ - Farber is pleased to announce that, with immediate effect, Shane Pennell has been named the new CEO of Farber's Consumer Insolvency Division.
"I see an opportunity at Farber to build on a strong foundation that has already been established," says Pennell. "At Farber the focus has always been first and foremost on customers and team members, and I am excited to be joining this winning culture."
Shane has been drawn to Farber due to the organization's human culture of respect, building relationships, and collaboration with all with whom it deals. He brings to this position more than 20 years of experience in the Canadian consumer finance space, having most recently served as Senior Vice President, Retail Operations at goeasy Ltd. Before that, he was Vice President, Consumer Lending at HSBC Financial. Having worked in the sub- and near-prime space for his entire career, Pennell felt it was important to stay connected to this space.
"I have a deep connection to these people and the impact we can have on everyday Canadians," he says. "These are people who have had a life event happen. They need our support and guidance as they move beyond these events."
The organization hopes the move will further enhance its senior management team and expand its scope of experience. "The reason Shane was brought on started with his cultural congruency with Farber," says Alan Farber, Founder and Joint Managing Partner of Farber. "Shane brings to our team years of banking experience in the sub-prime consumer market, and my hope is that, with him, the Farber brand will continue to strengthen and become the dominant brand servicing this target audience." Going forward, the organization aims to expand its footprint, build on the financial services it provides, and branch out into additional offerings.
Shane sees embracing new technology as an opportunity for Farber to differentiate itself from other organizations in the space. "Gone are the days where we can expect debtors to come to us," he says. "They will tell us how they want to receive their services and how they want to interact with us. We need to be ready, whether in-person, digitally, or however, they feel most comfortable."
