MONTRÉAL, May 17, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - You don't have to wait for the warm weather to get out of the house and indulge in the great outdoors; you can do that as soon as this weekend, when Parc Jean-Drapeau launches many of its summer activities, including the reopening of the Aquatic Complex, the return of Piknic Électronik and the season opening of La Ronde.
Reopening of the Aquatic Complex
As of Saturday, May 19, swimming enthusiasts can enjoy the Aquatic Complex's pools on weekends and statutory holidays. Meanwhile, starting on June 16, the Aquatic Complex will be open every day, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., until the end of the summer season.
Regarded as one of the finest outdoor complexes in Canada, Parc Jean-Drapeau's Aquatic Complex boasts three heated pools at a temperature of 27° Celsius for the comfort of swimmers: a competition pool, diving pool and a gradual-slope recreational pool with a cushioned rubber mat for young children's safety.
Whether it's for a family swimming outing, doing some laps in the pool or simply to take a refreshing dip and loll in the sun, the Aquatic Complex has facilities tailored to every taste. This year, people of all ages can enjoy the new shady areas and cooling-off islands that have been set up alongside the pools. Not to mention the many services available on site, including lockers with a digital lock, a baby rest-stop, family locker room, the loaning of a flotation vest and free WiFi.
Fun and thrills at La Ronde
The more daring will again be able to get their thrills as La Ronde opens for the 2018 season on Saturday, May 19 and remains in operation for the entire long weekend. Along with having a rollicking time with the 40 rides and attractions, including the Goliath - one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in North America - visitors can also discover the Tourbillon, a new ride that will have you spinning in every direction. Discover this classic amusement park ride and be ready to have loads of fun in this whirlwind of pleasure, with your family or a group of friends.
A doubleheader to launch the new season of Piknic Électronik
Electronic music fans will be in their glory, because not only will there be one, but actually two Piknic Électronik events at the Parc this weekend – the first one on Sunday and the second on the holiday Monday. Back for the entire summer season on the bucolic Plaine des jeux site, the Piknic Électronik crew has a flamboyant program in store, as techno titans Anna (May 20) and Marcel Dettman (May 21) will have the crowd up and dancing.
