QUÉBEC CITY, Oct. 14, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - After Spain, the United States, Italy, and Australia, the International Society for Cultural and Activity Research (ISCAR) will head to Québec City, Canada, for the 5th edition of its triennial international congress. From August 27 to September 1, 2017, the Québec City Convention Centre will welcome 700 researchers from over 70 countries who specialize in fields that examine human development and social practices.
Kudos to Fernand Gervais, dean of the Université Laval Faculty of Education, and Thérèse Laferrière, director of the CRIRES research centre on school intervention and success, for working so hard to bring this new international congress to Québec City. With the ongoing support and cooperation of Jocelyn Guertin from the Québec City Convention Centre, our ambassadors brilliantly coordinated the bid and convinced the members of the congress executive committee to vote for Québec City. The decision was made at the ISCAR 2014 congress held in Sydney, Australia.
In addition to his work securing ISCAR 2017, Fernand Gervais was also instrumental in attracting the 11th annual conference of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL). The conference, to be held at the Québec City Convention Centre from October 22 to 25, 2014, will bring together 500 academics from around the world.
The Université Laval Faculty of Education and CRIRES will jointly host and organize the 2017 ISCAR congress.
