A first in the History of the Last Post Fund: Two Women at the Head of the
Organization
MONTREAL, Aug. 6 /CNW Telbec/ - Two women now lead the destinies of the Last Post Fund, the first as National President and the second as Executive Director.
Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Evelyn Kelly CD becomes the 29th National President of the Last Post Fund. She previously served as Vice President - West of the organization and as President of the Ontario Branch. A native of Smiths Falls, Ontario, LCol Kelly was educated at Ottawa Civic Hospital, Ryerson Polytechnic Institute, University holds a Masters Degree in Health Services Administration. LCol Kelly served with the Canadian Forces Medical Services as Nursing Officer, as Commanding Officer of 25 Medical Company and as Medical Advisor to the 32 Canadian Brigade Group. Her hobbies, which include fencing, took her to the Olympics in Montreal in 1976
Ms. Carol Genest recently took office as Executive Director of the Last Post Fund. Born in Manitoba, Ms. Genest has enjoyed a 20-year career with the Government of Canada, namely with Canadian Heritage, Parks Canada and Veterans Affairs Canada. She has worked mostly in official languages, funding programs and management.
The Last Post Fund
Since its establishment in Montreal in 1909, the organization has ensured that no Veteran is denied the dignity of funeral services for lack of sufficient financial resources.
