Quotes
"The Government of Canada is proud to be a part of this major renovation project for the arts community. The adaptation and updating of the building will help optimize the space with infrastructure adapted to Espace Libre performances. For many years to come, citizens will be able to keep enjoying theatre presentations in this former fire station that's now an important cultural centre."
—The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage
"At the completion of the renovations, Espace Libre will celebrate its 40th anniversary. For this landmark occasion, our magnificent building will have recovered all its luster to continue to play its role as a beacon for its neighbourhood and for the city. With state-of-the-art tools and improved spaces, Espace Libre will be in a position to even better support the innovative ambitions of contemporary theatre creation, better undertake the many cultural democratization projects for the south/central region, and welcome audiences in a place that is safe and friendly. Thanks to this essential work, Espace Libre will look to the future with a firm commitment to being a theatre of art and of the city."
