MONTREAL, June 13, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The Mental Illness Foundation's 22nd Annual Golf Tournament took place this past June 11 at the Elm Ridge Golf Club in Île Bizard under the honorary chairmanship for a fifth year of François Côté, President of TELUS Québec and TELUS Health Solutions. Over 200 guests from the Montréal business community were there in support of the cause of mental illness. Their participation helped the Foundation raise $ 225,000, money that will be used to ensure the continued delivery of its youth depression awareness program, Partners for Life.
"Partners for Life is the only program of its kind in Québec, made truly exceptional by its extensive reach," explained Donald Bastien, member of the Executive Committee of the Mental Illness Foundation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the event. "Since the program was established in 1998, its team of facilitators has visited more than 630 schools across Quebec and helped raise over 800,000 young people's awareness of depression, the biggest risk factor associated with school dropouts and suicide. We are very pleased to have the continued support of our partners, collaborators and friends, without which we could not keep helping thousands of young people every year."
The Mental Illness Foundation wants to thank its collaborators, partners and sponsors, who helped make this event a great success.
