The Government of Canada awards a total of $2.6M in financial assistance to Mailhot Industries
SAINT-JACQUES-DE-MONTCALM, QC, Jan. 14, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Mailhot Industries is an innovative SME located in Saint-Jacques in the Montcalm RCM. To allow it to continue improving its production process and remain competitive, the business will receive two repayable contributions totalling $2,600,000 from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions.
Founded in 1956, Mailhot Industries Inc. specializes in the design and production of state-of-the-art hydraulic cylinders. These cylinders are primarily used by manufacturers of mobile equipment such as dump trucks and trailers, waste collection trucks and snow removal equipment. In addition to its Quebec plant, Mailhot Industries also has a plant in Mexico (in Silao, in the state of Guanajuato), and has three points of service in Alberta and the U.S.
With the help of an initial financial contribution of $1,300,000, Industries Mailhot was able to optimize the setup of its Saint‑Jacques plant in order to centralize its Canadian production activities.
A second financial contribution of $1,300,000 will allow the business to acquire state-of-the-art equipment to be used to develop new, innovative products. Mailhot Industries will thus be able to enhance its productivity, reduce its production costs, optimize the flexibility of its plant and increase its sales.
The financial assistance was announced today by the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport. Provided by CED, the funding will allow the business to achieve its established productivity objectives. These projects will generate a total investment of almost $9M, and will result in the creation of 10 new jobs in Saint‑Jacques.
The Government of Canada is committed to creating close partnerships with Quebec businesses to support their efforts to innovate and increase their productivity and competitiveness, and contribute to the economic vitality of the regions, job creation and the improvement of citizens' quality of life.
