TORONTO, Feb. 5, 2014 /CNW/ - The release of the inaugural edition of CPA Magazine, the flagship publication for the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada), signals the arrival of a new era.
"CPA Magazine proudly brings together the award-winning publications of our legacy organizations and reinforces the thoughts, perspectives and expertise of Canada's accounting profession," says Kevin Dancey, FCPA, FCA, president and CEO, CPA Canada. "Drawing on this extensive knowledge and experience assures that the content is relevant, interesting and useful."
CPA Magazine serves as a conduit of information for professional accountants, especially within a changing landscape.
All of the country's legacy accounting bodies have either merged under the Chartered Professional Accountant banner or are in unification discussions. The magazine's core audience is Canada's accounting profession but it also appeals to a much broader readership.
"We will address topics and issues that are important to professional accountants along with Canada's top business leaders and decision makers," says Cairine Wilson, the magazine's publisher. "CPA Magazine is ambitious. We aim to inform and spark discussion by being a trusted resource."
Focus groups helped determine what core readers were looking for in a magazine. In addition to timely feature stories, there will be opinion pieces and items focusing on management, finance, technology and lifestyle.
"CPA Magazine educates, engages and entertains," explains Okey Chigbo, editor. "Its content and delivery systems ensure strong penetration in the marketplace. If we are to connect Canadians from coast to coast, we must deliver the magazine in a format that meets their needs."
The magazine will be published in three formats:
The inaugural issue features an exclusive interview with Kirstine Stewart, managing director of Twitter Canada along with stories on cyber warfare, Bombardier's new CSeries jet and the first-ever CPA Canada compensation survey.
CPA Magazine is published 10 times a year with a circulation of 180,000 per issue.
