MONTREAL, Sept. 18, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Make-A-Wish / Fais-Un-Vœu Québec has just wrapped up its 10th edition of the 48-HOUR RIDE at the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit in Montreal. After beating the $1 million mark in 2012, we have just raised $1,906,000, once again exceeding the ambitious set goal of $1.5 million. The event attracted more than 1 700 participants from all over Quebec for a 48-hour bike relay.
"It's amazing to see that, even after 10 years, the generosity of our participants, our donors, and our volunteers is as strong as ever, as every dollar raised goes to making the wishes of Quebec children with life-threatening medical conditions a reality," says Pierre Thériault, the founder of the 48-HOUR RIDE.
To mark the 10th anniversary of the event, Make-A-Wish / Fais-Un-Vœu Québec was fortunate to count on the support of Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre, who acted as Honorary President. Quebec personalities, Jean-Michel Anctil, Patrice Bélanger, Josée Lavigueur, Alex Perron, François Massicotte, François Morency and Herby Moreau were on the start line on Friday to cheer on the participants.
The 48-HOUR RIDE team is all set to take on the challenge for next year and, judging by the ever-increasing number of participants, so are cyclists.
About the 48-HOUR RIDE

Based on team spirit, team bonding, and challenging oneself, the event attracts mostly people from Quebec's business community, biking enthusiasts and occasional riders. Grouped in teams of 6, participants relay each other day and night for 48 hours. Teams having raised more than $10,000 can adopt the wish of a child and follow its progress throughout the wish process.
