A new Restaurant in Leslieville, Toronto, is redefining fast casual dining
TORONTO, May 17, 2018 /CNW/ - Hype Food Co., opening Saturday May 19 at Gerrard E and Jones, will serve a menu free of gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, milk, wheat, fish, soy and sesame.
This fast-casual eatery (1060 Gerrard East, at Jones) will serve a menu of bowls and baked goods. Going out to eat with friends or family can pose a challenge for people with food allergies, with dietary restrictions or even with food preferences. That's where Hype Food Co. comes in.
The food bowls are fully customizable. Diners can pick a base from a variety of gluten-free options, then top their bowls with protein such as pulled beef brisket, chicken and some plant-based options such as beans, roasted sunflower seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds and chia seeds and add a variety of vegetables to the bowls. The bowls are finished with the choice of delicious sauces and dressings that are plant-based, made in-house and cater to many different tastes.
On the baked goods side, only gluten-free, nut-free flours will be used. Cupcakes, cakes, brownies, cookies and most common treats you would see in a standard bakery will be served, but free from top allergens. Hype Food Co. will serve some delicious and creamy Dole Whips, that have a cult-like following in Disney Parks.
The actual restaurant is designed to attract a variety of customers, from people on-the-go wanting a quick and healthy meal to take-out, to families that want to eat a worry-free meal while children enjoy the activities and drawing boards. The main dining space also features a mural with the infamous naughty Toronto racoons, created by renowned local illustrator, Emily May Rose.
Hype Food Co.'s co-founder, Pauline Osena, is a mother of three children, and two of them have multiple food allergies. As her kids got older, it got more challenging to bring them to restaurants with their own packed lunch so she was inspired to create a menu for people who want to know exactly what's in their food, and a safe place for people with food allergies to dine.
The grand opening of Hype Food Co. is on May 19th and will be open for the entire long weekend. Find out more on www.HypeFoodCo.ca or contact [email protected].
