TORONTO, May 4, 2015 /CNW/ - Purolator and the Canadian Football League (CFL) are renewing the long-standing partnership between the two organizations. The new three-year agreement reinforces the future of Purolator Tackle Hunger®, an innovative grassroots program that has delivered the equivalent of more than 7.5 million pounds of food over 12 years to food banks across Canada.
Through the Purolator Tackle Hunger program, Purolator works closely with its employees, partners, agents, customers and food banks across Canada to help raise awareness and collect donations – through activities such as food drives at select CFL games – to help address the issue of hunger in Canada.
Purolator hosts a series of annual Purolator Tackle Hunger Game Day Food Drives across Canada, one in each of the nine CFL cities. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or a cash donation to help support their local food bank. In return, fans are able to have their photo taken with the iconic Grey Cup. Additionally, fans can make a monetary donation to select food banks across Canada all year round by visiting purolatortacklehunger.com.
Hunger affects millions of Canadians. According to Food Bank Canada's 2014 HungerCount report, more than 850,000 Canadians – 36 per cent of whom are children – visit food banks every month.
This year, Purolator has set a donation target to raise the equivalent of 1.4 million pounds of food, and is committed to delivering on promises to all our stakeholders, which includes making a positive difference in communities across Canada.
