8 Maxmillions prizes were won yesterday
MONTREAL, June 5, 2021 /CNW Telbec/ - In yesterday's Lotto Max draw, 8 Maxmillions ($1 million prize(s)) were won with selections sold by in Ontario, British-Columbia, Atlantic Provinces and The Prairies. As such, the total in the Tuesday, June 8 draw will be $117 million, i.e. a $70 million jackpot and 47 prizes of $1 million. This is the biggest jackpot ever offered in the history of Loto-Québec and all of Canada!
The previous record set for a Lotto Max jackpot was in October 2018, when it totalled $116 million, and consisted of a $60,000,000 jackpot and 56 Maxmillions prizes.
"This is the 7th time the Lotto Max jackpot has hit its cap of $70,000,000 since the lottery game's revamp in May 2019. Actually, Quebecers have been lucky with this lottery game, as two of the six $70,000,000 jackpots won in 2020 were won in Québec," says Isabelle Jean, President of Operations - Lotteries. These two jackpots (out of six) represent 33% of all the jackpots won, while the Lotto Max market share is approximately 19% in Québec.
Lotto Max continues to churn out winners in Québec
Many Quebecers have won big thanks to Lotto Max. Since the lottery game's launch, 37 jackpots have been won by Quebecers, including two $70,000,000 ones—the largest jackpots ever won in Québec—in the February 25 and October 9, 2020, draws. The previous record-breaking Lotto Max jackpot in Québec dates back to the June 11, 2019, draw when a family split $65,000,000. Four $60,000,000 jackpots were won in the January 6, 2017, February 10, 2017, December 22, 2017, and June 8, 2018, draws. Plus, four $55,000,000 jackpots were won in the July 17, 2015, April 21, 2017, June 2, 2017, and October 30, 2020, draws. Six other $50,000,000 jackpots were won in the July 6, 2012, May 31, 2013, May 6, 2016, May 3, 2019, November 26, 2019, and December 22, 2020, draws. That's a combined jackpot total of $1.392 million!
In addition to these jackpots, many prizes of $1 million or more have been won across the province: a total of 149 Maxmillions and 5 prizes in the 6/7+Bonus category—not to mention, 108 Maxmillions prize shares. In all, over $2.304 million have been won by Québec Lotto Max players!

Lotto Max at a glance
- Players' odds of winning are 1 in 33,294,800 with one play.
- The starting jackpot is $10,000,000 and, if not won, climbs to a maximum of $70,000,000 with each draw.
- Maxmillions are $1,000,000 non-decomposable additional prizes offered once the jackpot hits $50,000,000.
- The draws for this Canada-wide lottery are held on a biweekly basis, i.e. every Tuesday and Friday.
- Wagers close at 10:30 p.m. on the day of the draw.
- Each play costs $5 and consists of three selections of seven numbers from 1 to 50.
