A Requiem to Honour and Remember Canada's Veterans
MONTREAL, June 1 /CNW Telbec/ - Is there a Veteran from the 2nd World War or the Korean War in your family or entourage? Are you, or do you know, a Veteran from the Canadian Forces? If so, the Last Post Fund is presenting a concert in honour of all Canadian Veterans on Saturday 5 June, 3 p.m., at Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montreal. Upon presentation of their service number or Veterans Affairs Canada number, Veterans will receive two complimentary passes to the concert.
Mozart's celebrated Requiem will be performed by 75 singers from two Montreal choirs, with 20 musicians and four soloists under the direction of Yvan Sabourin. Several military organizations and associations will be present, including the Royal Canadian Legion, major partner of this event. Guest of honour is the Honourable Pierre Claude Nolin, Senator, and the presenter will be Arthur Hair III, grandson of the Last Post Fund founder.
"With this event, explains Marcel Belleau, President of the Québec Branch of the Last Post Fund, we want to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice of Veterans who fought in the great wars of the 20th century, and of all service men and women who lost their lives in more recent missions of the Canadian Forces. Our aim is also to celebrate the commitment of Canadian Forces Veterans who have served the nation in wartime and in peacetime, and of all those who continue to serve with honour and dignity."
Tickets at $30 will be available at the Oratory the day of the concert.
