A Round of a "Paws" for Canada's Animal Heroes
Canada's finest animal protectors to be inducted into the 2016 Purina Animal Hall of Fame
TORONTO, April 29, 2016 /CNW/ - Three courageous pets and one fearless service animal will be recognized for their live-saving feats on Tuesday, May 3rd at the 48th annual Purina Animal Hall of Fame ceremony. These four-legged heroes will join the ranks of other pets and service animals who have come to the rescue in dire situations to protect, and ultimately save a human life.
In addition to honouring life-saving animal heroes at the Purina Animal Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Purina will also be recognizing one more special animal through a new category – the Purina Better Together Award. This everyday hero, whose story was chosen by Canadians voting across the country, will be honoured for making a significant impact on the daily life of their owner, celebrating that people and pets are truly better together.
Founded in 1968, the Purina Animal Hall of Fame is the longest-running pet recognition program in Canada, inducting 172 animals, including 144 dogs, 27 cats and one horse. The 2016 inductees have been carefully selected from many cross-country nominations over the past year. This year's inductees' incredible stories demonstrate bravery, intelligence, loyalty and the unique bond that exists between people and pets.
