In last night's (Sept. 5) episode of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, all four teams raced to Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., and made their way to the Agawa Canyon Tour Train, which travels through many landscapes that inspired Canada's Group of Seven. Once teams boarded the train, they had 30 minutes to memorize and match 14 titles and descriptions to the corresponding Group of Seven paintings. When all 14 paintings were correctly identified, they received their next clue. Teams that were unable to identify all of the paintings in the allotted 30 minutes had to stay on the train for another 30 minute loop through Agawa Canyon. Sam and Paul were able to complete the challenge during the first trip, jumping out to an early lead. The remaining teams needed a second trip to correctly identifying each painting and receive their clues.
Teams then had to select one of two Detours – "I'll Cast it" or "Alpac It". In "Alpac It", teams had to select two alpacas and guide them through an obstacle course in three minutes. Once teams completed the obstacle course in three minutes, they received their next clue. In "I'll Cast It", teams had to wade into the water of Kinsmen Lake and cast their fly fishing line into three floating targets. Once they had hooked each target, they received their next clue. Kenneth and Ryan couldn't control their alpaca's and began to fall behind.
The second Face Off of the season had teams playing the hybrid sport of crokicurl, a mix between crokinole and curling. The team with the most points after all rocks had been thrown received their next clue, while the other team had to wait for another team to arrive. Sam and Paul arrived first to the Face Off followed by Korey and Ivana. After throwing the final rock, Korey and Ivana beat Sam and Paul, and left the Face Off in first place. After falling behind in the Detour, Kenneth and Ryan arrived to the Face Off in last place, however, they threw the winning rock leaving Karen and Bert to wait out the timer before continuing.
Teams then made their way to Canada's first insectarium, Entomica, to complete a Roadblock. One Racer had to insert their head into an enclosed plexiglass environment, while several live cockroaches were dumped on their head, while the other Racer had to correctly count the number of each species in their partner's helmet to receive their next clue. As Karen struggled to count the cockroaches, Bert's fears took over, and he began to panic, leaving them in last place.
Sam and Paul completed the cockroach challenge first, and made their way to Top Sail Island at Bellevue Park, where they found Host Jon Montgomery at the Pit Stop. After coming in first place, Sam and Paul won a trip for two to Cape Town, South Africa, and a spot in the finale. Karen and Bert were last to reach the Pit Stop, and were eliminated from the Race.
