CALGARY, April 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Consumers around the globe have now viewed Travel Alberta's three-minute "Remember to Breathe" video compilation of Alberta tourism experiences more than one million times on YouTube. Since Travel Alberta launched its new brand last October, Alberta continues to reap the rewards of a successful tourism brand strategy.
The YouTube milestone follows recent international recognition for the video at the world's largest tourism trade show, the International Tourism Fair in Berlin. The "remember to breathe" video was named the best tourism video in the world and received the equivalent of the tourism industry's "Oscar" award.
"Our videos take viewers on an emotional journey, they remind consumers of those rare, breathtaking moments that make memories that last a lifetime," explains Bruce Okabe, Travel Alberta Chief Executive Officer. "We're working to differentiate Alberta from other tourism destinations in an extremely competitive marketplace. This news is evidence that our new brand is resonating with consumers, we couldn't be happier."
Tourism is big business in Alberta, contributing more than $5 billion to the provincial economy annually. The video —which features authentic experiences in breathtaking landscapes across the province—is part of Travel Alberta's strategy to increase tourism revenues for the province.
