A Tribe Called Red, Alessia Cara, Ruth B, and The Strumbellas Confirmed as Performers for CTV's Broadcast of THE 2017 JUNO AWARDS, April 2

TORONTO, Feb. 7, 2017 /CNW/ - At a press conference today announcing the nominations for THE 2017 JUNO AWARDS, CTV and The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) revealed electronic group A Tribe Called Red, 2016 JUNO Award winner and singer-songwriter Alessia Cara, contemporary storyteller Ruth B, and alt-folk indie group The Strumbellas as the next round of performers confirmed for THE 2017 JUNO AWARDS. These artists join previously announced performer, multi-platinum singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes, who is nominated for an impressive five JUNO Awards this year, including Album of the Year* and Artist of the Year. Canada's most exciting night in music airs live from the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa on CTV and CTV GO on Sunday, April 2 (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).

The 2016 JUNO Award winner for Breakthrough Artist of the Year*, Alessia Cara, is nominated for four awards in 2017, including JUNO Fan Choice*, Single of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year*, while A Tribe Called Red, Ruth B, and The Strumbellas each nabbed three nominations. A first time nominee for JUNO Fan Choice*, Breakthrough Artist of the Year*, and Songwriter of the Year*, Ruth B will also take part in a special tribute to charity MusiCounts during the broadcast. The Strumbellas, who won a 2014 JUNO Award for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year: Group, are nominated this year for JUNO Fan Choice*, Single of the Year, and Group of the Year. Ottawa locals, A Tribe Called Red, who won Breakthrough Group of the Year in 2014, received nominations today for Jack Richardson Producer of the Year, Electronic Album of the Year, and Video of the Year*.
