17-18, 2010
MONTREAL, July 6 /CNW Telbec/ - For the sixth straight year, Société du Parc Jean-Drapeau is presenting Les Week-ends du Monde, a free event enabling the public to travel around the world in a span of two weekends and discover the culture and traditions of 30 cultural communities through music, dance and traditional cuisine. The 2010 edition of the event is being held on the weekends of July 10-11 and 17-18.
The City of Montréal Administration, in collaboration with the Société du Parc Jean-Drapeau, is proud to be able to organize continuous access to the City's facilities, thereby enabling the various cultural communities to share their culture and tradition with all Montrealers," remarked Mary Deros, an Executive committee member, responsible for the City of Montréal's cultural communities. "Through Week-ends du Monde, our administration is positioning itself as a leader in integrating cultural and artistic groups for the Montreal communities."
"Les Week-ends du Monde strives to bring the various cultural communities together within a same site and event," stated Christian Ouellet, Executive Director of Parc Jean-Drapeau. "Montrealers of all origins will thus be able to take advantage of this great showcase to celebrate and share their culture with the entire population in an outstanding and easily accessible venue."

Meanwhile, for the first time in 2010, Carnaval d'été brésilien de Montréal, the 1st Festival Viva Mexico de Montréal and La Nuit des pêcheurs (Africa) will be enriching the cultural program. In all, some 30 communities, including 11 new ones, will be taking part in the 2010 edition of Les Week-ends du Monde. And on each day of the event, from 3 to 5 p.m., Les rythmes folkloriques will be putting on traditional dance and music shows of the various communities, in collaboration with the Société du patrimoine d'expression du Québec (SPEQ). Several shows will also be staged in the evening.
