A Victory for UFCW Canada Members at Ryding Regency as New Deal Ratified

TORONTO, Sept. 20, 2013 /CNW/ - UFCW Canada Local 1000A members voted on September 20 to ratify a new contract with Ryding Regency Meat Packers Ltd, bringing to end a lockout that had spanned three weeks.

The contract covers more than 130 workers and runs from March 2012 to March 2016. 

"In the face of adversity, our members showed tremendous courage, determination and resilience in coming together to achieve a fair contract for their future," said Don Taylor, lead negotiator for the union's bargaining committee. "This victory is a testament to our members' incredible solidarity. Together with the community's support, we made fairness happen."

UFCW Canada Local 1000A has nearly 30,000 members across Ontario working in various sectors of the economy.
